Minnesota Distance Elite provides the following to selected athletes: Coaching, monthly stipend, training facilities both indoor and outdoor, health club memberships at Life Time Fitness, assistance in finding a part-time job with a flexible work schedule (if possible in a career field), access to a designated medical team that specializes in runners, assistance with locating housing, travel and lodging support for competitions, among other resources. Post-collegiate athletes are selected through an application and review process. To request an application, complete the contact form.
Minnesota Distance Elite relies on the generosity and support of its sponsors as well as its individual contributors. It is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization - operated by a 14-member, volunteer based Board of Directors - whose purpose is to improve and enhance American distance running.
Through sponsorships and donations, Minnesota Distance Elite provides 10-12 selected athletes with stipends and travel expenses as they train to compete in national, international and Olympic competitions.
Sponsors have the opportunity to leverage sponsorship arrangements through three distinct levels: Gold, Silver and Bronze. In addition, individuals can contribute through the organization’s Support Crew program.
