Recent Results: Team USA Minnesota Athletes Compete Well at USA 1 Mile Championships, Healthy Kidney 10k and Bay to Breakers 12k

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Four Team USA Minnesota distance runners took to the roads last week to compete at three different events held in Minneapolis, New York City and San Francisco.  The results are as follows.

 

USA 1 Mile Road Championships - May 13

Heather Dorniden finished sixth in the women's field with a gun time of 4:42.1 and Meghan Armstrong was 10th in 4:46.2 in the USA 1 Mile Road Championships held on the streets of downtown Minneapolis last Thursday evening.  The event was hosted by Twin Cities In Motion and held in conjunction with the Medtronic TC 1 Mile races.  Both Dorniden and Armstrong will compete at the USA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines in late June with Dorniden racing the 800 and/or 1500 meters and Armstrong the 10,000 meters.

 

UAE Healthy Kidney 10k - May 15

Patrick Smyth finished 12th overall at the Healthy Kidney 10k held in Central Park on Saturday with a time of 29:03.  The race, which featured a strong international and American field, was sponsored by the United Arab Emirates to benefit the National Kidney Foundation and was hosted by the New York Road Runners.  Next up for Smyth will be the USA Outdoor Championships where he will run the 10,000 meters.

 

ING Bay to Breakers 12k - May 16

Returning to San Francisco for his second appearance at the Bay to Breakers 12k, Josh Moen once again finished 10th overall in the Sunday morning event but improved his time to 36:47 (his 2009 finishing time was 36:53).  Moen is focusing on competing at USA Outdoor in his native state of Iowa where he will run the 10,000m.
