Minneapolis/St. Paul - May 6, 2010 - Team USA Minnesota's Katie McGregor will be among the competitors at the USA 25k Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich., on May 8. In 2007, McGregor won the race, which is held in conjunction with the Fifth Third River Bank Run. Her time that year was 1:25:53 in the event that is billed as the largest 25k road race in the country.
McGregor most recently posted 32:30.84 in the 10,000 meters at the Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto on May 1. On the roads earlier this year, she won the USA 15k Championships in Jacksonville on March 13 in a time of 49:52, which was a personal best. McGregor is a five-time national champion - 25k, 15k, 10k road twice, and in the 10,000 meters.
This is the 33rd year of the annual River Bank Run, which has been the site of the USA 25k Championships since 1995. The race begins at 8:20 a.m. (Eastern).
Ponce Grand Prix - May 8 Heather Dorniden will travel to Puerto Rico this weekend to compete on the track in the Ponce Grand Prix, an event that started in 2006 and draws some 10,000 spectators. She will run the 800 meters during the evening meet.
