Katy Moen, Tyler Jermann to Compete at Cherry Blossom Ten Mile in Washington, D.C. on April 8

Minneapolis/St. Paul - April 4, 2018 - Team USA Minnesota's Katy Moen and Tyler Jermann will be among a deep field on international and American competitors at the 46th Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile race in Washington, D.C. on April 8.

 

The race will serve as the 2018 National 10-mile Championships for the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and also includes several RRCA Roads Scholars and RunPro Campers in its invited field.  Moen is a 2015 Roads Scholar who also attended the 2015 RunPro Camp, while Jermann is a recipient of a 2017 Roads Scholar grant.

In addition to the $100,500 in prize money and bonuses being offered by Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile organizers, the RRCA has contributed $2,400 to be awarded equally to the first male and female Roads Scholars or RunPro Camp attendees competing at this year's RRCA National 10 Mile Championships.

Moen and Jermann are both graduates of Iowa State University where they competed in cross country and track.  As professional runners, Moen has a best of 56:29 in the 10 mile distance while Jermann has posted 49:42 for 10 miles.  Jermann is also a marathoner with a 2:16 best and won the 2017 U.S. 50k Championships.

The women's 10 Mile race starts at 7:18 a.m., 12 minutes prior to the start of the men's race and the mass start at 7:30 a.m. (Eastern time).  The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run and 5k Run-Walk attracts some 16,000 participants on a course that starts and finishes on the Washington Memorial Grounds.
