Ryan Rutherford, Kevin Lewis to Run TCO Vikings 5k Sept. 16; Jon Peterson, Rob Molke at Cow Harbor 10k Sept. 16; Heather Kampf Wins Minnesota Mile

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Sept. 12, 2017 - Team USA Minnesota's Ryan Rutherford and Kevin Lewis will run the Twin Cities Orthopedics Vikings 5k in Minneapolis on Sept. 16, while Jon Peterson and Rob Molke will travel to the East Coast to compete in The Great Cow Harbor 10k on Long Island on Sept. 16.

 

The TCO Vikings 5k starts at 8:00 a.m. in downtown Minneapolis and finishes on the 50 yard line of U.S. Bank Stadium where the Minnesota Vikings play their home games.  Rutherford and Lewis last went head-to-head in a race at the Brian Kraft 5k in Minneapolis last May when Rutherford finished first in 14:15 and Lewis was second in 14:18.  The two distance runners joined Team USA Minnesota earlier this year.

The 40th running of the Cow Harbor 10k starts at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern) in the Long Island village of Northport, New York.  This will be Peterson's fourth appearance at the race, having placed fourth in both 2016 and 2013, and second in 2014.  Molke will be making his second start at Cow Harbor, hoping to improve on his 10th place finish in 2016.

Race Results

Heather Kampf won the Minnesota Mile in Duluth on Sept. 7 with a time of 4:41.6, marking her 26th road mile win since 2011.  Kampf followed up the Minnesota race with a seventh place finish at the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile in New York City on Sept. 10.  Her time was 4:20.6, which was just slightly off her best of 4:19.8 in the road mile.

At the City of Lakes Half Marathon in Minneapolis on Sept. 10, Meghan Peyton was second in a time of 1:17:13.  In addition, she secured the USATF Minnesota Half Marathon title.
