Heather Kampf to Compete at Minnesota Mile Sept. 7, 5th Avenue Mile Sept. 10; Meghan Peyton to Run City of Lakes Half Marathon Sept. 10; Katy Moen Wins Victory 10k

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Sept. 5, 2017 - Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf will be among the competitors at the Minnesota Mile in Duluth on Sept. 7, and at the New Balance 5th Avenue Mile in New York City on Sept. 10.  Also racing this weekend will be Meghan Peyton who will run the Jeff Winter City of Lakes Half Marathon in Minneapolis on Sept. 10.

 

The Minnesota Mile, hosted by the Grandma's Marathon organization, features a new course on the Skyline Parkway as well as a new weekday date.  The Thursday evening event, which is part of the 2017 Bring Back the Mile Grand Prix Tour, starts at 6 p.m. Kampf was second at the Minnesota Mile in 2016 and won the race in 2014.

At the 5th Avenue Mile, put on by the New York Road Runners, competitors will race down a 20 block stretch in downtown Manhattan with the professional women's race starting at 1:50 p.m. (Eastern).  Kampf was third at the 5th Avenue Mile last year and posted her road mile best of 4:19.8 at this race.

In Minneapolis, Peyton will start her fall season of racing at the City of Lakes Half Marathon, a race that begins at 8:00 a.m. and circles both Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun.  The race is also the site of the 2017 Minnesota Half Marathon Championships and is sponsored by the Minnesota Distance Running Association (MDRA).  Peyton has a 1:13:43 best in the distance.

Labor Day Race Results

Katy Moen won the MDRA Victory 10k as well as the USATF Minnesota women's 10k title at the annual labor Day race in Minneapolis on Sept. 4.  Her time was 35:45.  In the men's race, Rob Molke was second with a time of 30:18 and Jon Peterson crossed the finish line in sixth place in 31:10.

At the USATF 20k Championships in New Haven on Labor Day, Tyler Jermann opened his fall racing season with a 12th place finish in a time of 1:02:31.
