Heather Kampf Wins 800m Race in Ireland; Gabriele Grunewald wins 1500m in Italy; Upcoming European Track Races
Minneapolis/St. Paul - July 9, 2014 - Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf won the women's 800 meter race at the Cork City Sports International Meet in Ireland, and Gabriele Grunewald was first across the line in the women's 1500 meter event at the Meeting Sport Solidierta in Lignano, Italy. Both meets occurred on July 8.
Kampf's time was 2:01.25 in Cork. She also won the 800 meter race in 2013 at this meet. In Lignano, Grunewald ran a season best time of 4:05.22 to beat a field of13 runners.
Next up for Kampf on the European track circuit will be Sainsbury's Glasgow Grand Prix in Scotland, part of the IAAF Diamond League series, where she will run the 800 meters. After that meet, she will travel to Belgium where she will pace a 5000 meter race at the International Athletics Meet in Liege on July 16. She will close her European campaign with a 1500 meter race at the KBC Night of Athletics in Huesden on July 19.
Grunewald will now head to Belgium to compete in the 800 meters at the Flanders Cup meet in Kortrijk on July 12. She will run the 800m again at the Gugl Games in Linz, Austria on July 15, followed by the 1500m at Heusden on July 19.
Also in Europe are Eric Finan and Jon Peterson who will next compete at the Letterkenny Challenge Event on July 13 in Letterkenny, Ireland. They will both run the mile. Finan has a best of 3:58.73 in the distance and Peterson has run 4:01.12.
