Seven Team USA Minnesota Runners to Assist with TC Kids Fieldhouse Fun Run on Feb. 1; Indoor Track Weekend Results
Minneapolis/St. Paul - Jan. 29, 2014 - Seven Team USA Minnesota distance runners - Jon Grey, Jon Peterson, Ben Sathre, Eric Finan, Dani Stack, Gabriele Grunewald and Ladia Albertson-Junkans - will assist with the TC Kids Fieldhouse Fun Run on Feb. 1. Over 500 kids are expected to participate in the indoor track event to be held at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
Hosted by Twin Cities In Motion, the annual event begins at 9:00 a.m. with races for the kids that include a half mile, mile and relay runs on the indoor 200 meter track. Races begin with the youngest age groups first and are run in ascending order. The relays are the last races and will be made up of multiple age groups.
The Team USA Minnesota athletes will be on hand to lead kids through warm-ups, cheer on the runners, inspire and interact with the kids, sign autographs and generate lots of fun.
Indoor Track Meet Results
Gabriele Grunewald was second with a time of 4:12.76 in the 1500 meters at the Glasgow British Athletics International Match in Scotland on Jan. 25. It was an indoor personal best in the distance and her first indoor race since 2011. Grunewald was a member of the U.S. team that competed in a range of track and field events on the indoor track at the Emirates Arena.
In New York City at the Armory, Heather Kampf ran the mile in 4:30.14 (an indoor personal best) to finish in fourth place. This was Kampf's first indoor mile of the 2014 season. This weekend she will compete in the 800m on Feb. 2 at the Camel City Indoor Meet in Winston-Salem.
At the Terrier Invitational at Boston University on Feb. 25, Travis Burkstrand ran 4:00.15 in the mile for a personal best (previous was 4:06.68) to finish in second place. Burkstrand will next run the 800m at the Indiana University Relays on Feb. 1.
