Josh Moen to Compete at USA 25k Championships, Matt Gabrielson at Newport 10,000 on May 12; Weekend Results

Minneapolis/St. Paul - May 8, 2012 - Team USA Minnesota's Josh Moen will be among the competitors at the USA 25k Championships in Grand Rapids, Mich., and Matt Gabrielson will travel to New Jersey for the Newport 10,000 road race, with both events set for May 12.


This will be Moen's second appearance at the USA 25k Championships, having finished second in the race last year with a time of 1:16:09.  The race is part of the 35th annual Fifth Third River Bank Run, which starts and finishes in downtown Grand Rapids and is the largest 25k road race in the country.  The 25k begins at 8:20 a.m. (Eastern).


Gabrielson will compete in the ninth annual Newport 10,000 on a course that features views of the Manhattan skyline.  The event is the site of the USA Track & Field-New Jersey 10k men's and women's open championship and also includes a field of international and American elite runners.  The race starts at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern).


Weekend Results - May 6

Emily Brown was 10th in the women's field and Josh Moen finished in 15th place in the men's race at the Lilac Bloomsday 12k Run on May 6.  Brown's time was 42:08 and Moen crossed the finish line in 36:03.


In Brazil, Heather Kampf was third in the 800 meters with atime of 2:05.02.  As part of the Brazilian Athletics tour, she will run the 800 meters in a second meet on May 9.
