Notes:

In high school in Annapolis, Kristen was the indoor national mile champion in 1994 and 1995, the outdoor junior national champion in the 1500m in 1995 and a member of the Junior Pan American Team in 1995. She won nine state high school titles, holds the Maryland state high school mile record of 4:46 and was a Footlocker finalist in 1995.

For her college career, Kristen ran first at Auburn and then at Villanova, where she was a member of the 1998 National Cross Country Championship team - placing 17th - and the 4 x 1500m Penn Relays team. She was an All American for both cross country and for the 3000m indoor.

In 2002, Kristen qualified for the U.S. Indoor Championships in the 3000 meter and was a member of the Chiba Ekiden Road Relay women's team in Japan.

At the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials, Kristen competed in the 5000 meters. In 2008, Kristen ran her first half marathon and placed 5th at the USA Half Marathon Championships with a time of 1:12:58. She was a member of the U.S. team at the 2008 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Brazil..

In 2009, Kristen was 7th at the USA Half Marathon Championships, 8th at the USA 7 Mile Championships, and 5th at the USA 10 Mile Championship in a personal best time of 55:50 (previous was 56:17). She was also a member of the winning women's team at the Jacksonville 15k and finished 6th at the USA 20k Championships. In her debut marathon, Kristen placed 3rd in the 2009 USA Women's Marathon Championship in a time of 2:35:06.

Kristen joined Team USA Minnesota in 2001.
