Notes:
Matt Llano went to Broadneck High School in Annapolis, Maryland, where he ran cross country and track. His bests as a prep include 2:00 in the 800m, 4:25 in the 1600m and 9:44 in the 3200m. At the 2004 Maryland State Cross Country Meet he placed 8th and in 2005, he was 4th overall with his team winning the meet both years.
At the University of Richmond, the 10k All-American finished 9th at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 10,000m, and was a four time NCAA qualifier with two times each in cross country and track. In May 2011, he ran his personal best of 28:43.30 in the 10,000m at the Payton Jordan Invitational.
During his collegiate career, Matt was a four-time Academic All-American, the Atlantic 10 Conference Male Student-Athlete of the Year, a 7-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference Performer, and a 7-time Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference selection.
During his red shirt seasons, Matt competed at the 2009 Cow Harbor 10k and finished 4th, at the 2009 Annapolis 10-Mile Run to finish 1st, at the 2011 USA Cross Country Championships in the 12k, and at the 2011 USA 15k Championships.
Matt joined Team USA Minnesota in September 2011.
