Antonio is a graduate of Tartan High School in Oakdale, Minn., where he competed in the 1600 and 3200 meters in track and was all-state his senior year. He also earned five letters in soccer and two letters in football as the place kicker.
At the University of Minnesota, he was an All-American in cross country and competed in three NCAA Cross Country Championships. He was also a four-time All-Midwest Region harrier and was the Midwest Regional cross country champion in 2005. In 2006, he was named the Midwest Runner of the Year. In track, he made his mark in the 10,000 meters in his senior year to run 29:04.13.
His 2009 season included 7th place at the USA Half Marathon Championships in a personal best 1:02:55; 15th at the USA Cross Country Championships in the 12k; and selection to the U.S. team for the NACAC Cross Country Championships. He also was a member of the first place men's team at the USA 15k Championships and finished second at the ING Georgia Half Marathon. In other championships this year he was 5th at the 7 Mile Championship, 6th at the 25k Championship, and 10th at the 10k Championship. He also ran 2:15:45 at the Oct. 4 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon to finish 8th.
At the 2010 USA Half Marathon Championships, Antonio placed first in 1:01:54 to become a national champion. Antonio joined Team USA Minnesota in the summer of 2007.
