Team USA Minnesota distance runners are under the direction of Coach Dennis Barker. Athletes use the facilities at the University of Minnesota and at Augsburg College (the two institutions are a mile apart), and have health club memberships at Life Time Fitness through a sponsorship arrangement.

The Twin Cities area has an abundance of running trails within the metropolitan area, including a chain of lakes, river routes and numerous parks. Minneapolis/St. Paul is ranked by Runner's World as one of the "10 Best Running Cities" in the country.
